Hi! I’m Mee Hee, a Clinical Psychologist and Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist based in the Byron Bay Hinterland. I have a passion for all aspects of human relating, those delicate and sometimes painful moments of relating, and living life in our own unique way.
I have extensive experience working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and parents who suffer in many ways, including (but not limited to), depression, anxiety, trauma, self-harm, suicidal ideation, separation and loss, low self-worth, insecurity, anger, relationship and attachment-based problems, and eating disorders.
I believe that underlying many people’s suffering are emotional and relational difficulties.
After completing my Clinical Psychology training in 2004, I worked for 6 years at the Fremantle Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS). I also worked as part of the team who established Western Australia’s first outpatient, statewide eating disorders service based at The Centre for Clinical Interventions. Shortly after finishing my specialist registration in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy, I undertook a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy training which involved concurrent weekly theoretical seminars, weekly supervision on twice-weekly long term training cases, assessments, and 3 times a week training therapy. This training took me 8 years to complete and led me into private practice, which has been my full time work since 2010.
I am a Member of the Australian Psychological Society, Clinical Member of the NSW Institute of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, and Clinical Member of the Child, Couple, and Family Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Association of Australasia.
I love continued learning, refining, deepening, and expanding my understanding of human
emotional development, and an integral part of this value means that I provide supervision and
therapy to inexperienced and experienced clinicians and to those from other fields where
understanding human dynamics is beneficial.
